Indian Reservoir - Feb06 : Short weekend trip to Indian Reservoir with Turkish and Tiny. Departure not too early on Saturday, for a cool and mellow trip: no off-road planned. So I had my street wheels and tires as well of the Aerostich. With Turk we had a great riding going along the Lake Beryessa and at one point there is a dirt short-cut (Ray House rd) to go to the 16. Turned out it was closed for the Winter but I proposed that "we should check it out"...

Quick splash in Clear Creek - January 05 : Yep, no work this Monday (MLK)! Tiny, Kirkmoon and I decided to go for a ride instead... It was so fun that we pushed it further and further on some of the nicest paved roads south of the Bay Area. We came back at night after a lot of fun and 450 miles of riding. Not much time to take pictures but here are a few from Clear Creek. Ride report here

Sierra Passes - July 03 : Taking the V-Strom to the Sierras for passes, twisty roads, trails and great sceneries... All the roads are great in the Sierras but I tried the 31 for the 1st time and really recommend it: it goes from Long Barn (88) to Colfax Spring (120) via Cherry lake - One lane paved and easy dirt road.

Death Valley - November 2002 : The best and the worst: This trip was crazy! It even started BEFORE the trip with 2 of us having to repair our bikes until the last moment, the snow arriving just too soon on the Sierras and forcing us to go via the South route. Then, most of us had plenty of issues: loosing walets and camera (for good), dropping tent and clothes (Mr Yard Sale), electrical failure, mount bags issues and so on. One way to look at it could be "we travelled for 2 days to get there, then it rained for 24 hours in a row and we had to come back". Looks bad, huh? And add to that: being afraid of getting stuck in Salines valley (by the snow on the passes) with limited food supply. However, I really enjoyed this trip with a wonderful team that made us go over every obstacle with a smile. We had also so much fun riding off and on-road and enjoyed a spectacular scenery! V-Strom Ride to Nevada - Oct 2002 : Thanks to Mark Von Striver and the V-Strom Yahoo group I had the chance to spend one of my best riding weekends! Patrick, John, Ben, Clark and obviously Mark were the ones showing up at the meeting point to go camping at the Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park. 6 riders (5 V-Strom, 1 1150 GS) was a perfect group size and the pace was both steady and fast. Good size also for a great evening and the best food I ever had while camping! Overall it was: 3 days and 930 miles including around 120 in the dirt.

Bear Valley - July 2002 : A quick trip to the Sierras, my first one since I'm a Dad :-) Leaving Friday afternoon, back Saturday; traveling light (no tent or stuff); only 650's... Very promising! The main objective of the ride was to do the very challenging Deer Creek Valley trail from the 4 to the 88. Well... we tried! Anyway it was an amazing ride and excellent company!!!

On our way to the 49ers - May 2002 : The 49ers rally, was for Chris and me the motivation to go on a ride. Michael Byers was nice enough to invite us to stay at his place, 20 miles from Auburn. He was such a good host that we actually never found the time to join the rally! Too bad for the friends I've missed but what a great ride we had!!!

Death Valley - March 2002 : What a weekend! In the same time chaotic and wonderful: Chaotic because we were supposed to be 7 people (6 bikes) in this trip organized by Ray; we end up with everyone riding pretty much by himself on different days. Plus, we never saw Kurt and just crossed Ray's path on our way out of the valley! I had to do the trip from SF to Salines in 1 day and same thing for the trip back. OTOH, it was just a perfect stay over there! Great company, great place, great weather, great rides on the 2 trails I wanted to try: one of my best time in DV!

Death Valley - February 2002 : It's only a 3 days weekend but leaving on Friday early afternoon makes worth the trip to the Death Valley. Alain and Corey were really amazing, going through real tough trails, 2-up with luggages and stock shocks on the 1100 GS with 70,000 miles on it! An excellent rider and a very courageous passenger. The 650 Dakar did really a good job for its first long trip and was just perfect for the DV. The only breakdown to deplore is my Camera which explains this limited gallery.

First ride with the Dakar! Dec 01 : The first pics on my new GS. 600 miles service done last week; it was time for a REAL ride! Who else than cRAsH would be the best riding buddy for this "Discovery of the Dakar"? NO ONE! The day was not that long, but pretty intense with a good mix of off-road and twisty pavement.

Death Valley - Nov 2001 : Alain Deroo sent an invitation for a Death Valley ride on Thanksgiving weekend on the BMW Norcal Newsletter: Bob Love, Tony Westlake, Scott Marbuger and I said YES! What a good decision: we had a wonderful ride and Tony introduced us to a very special campground. Lot of fun, even if the ending was not what I was expecting :-(
